A U.S. immigration agent shot and killed a 37-year-old woman in her car in Minneapolis on Wednesday during an immigration enforcement surge, according to local and federal officials, the latest violence in President Donald Trump’s nationwide crackdown on migrants. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey adamantly rejected the Trump administration’s assertion that the agent fired in self-defense, saying video of the shooting directly contradicted what he called the government’s “garbage narrative.” “They’re already trying to spin this as an action of self-defense,” a visibly angry Frey said at a press conference. “Having…

European allies working on plan should US move on Greenland

PARIS/BERLIN, Jan 8 (Reuters) – Allies including France and Germany are working closely on a plan on how to respond should the United States act on its threat to take over Greenland, as Europe seeks to address U.S. President Donald Trump’s ambitions in the region. A U.S. military seizure of Greenland from a longtime ally, Denmark, would send shock waves through the NATO alliance and deepen the divide between Trump and European leaders. French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot said the subject would be raised at a meeting with the foreign…

NATO is done if Trump invades Greenland, Danish PM warns

If U.S. President Donald Trump invades Greenland, it will spell the end of NATO, Denmark’s leader warned.  Trump, who last week ratcheted up threats to take over the self-ruling Danish territory in the Arctic, should be taken “seriously when he says that he wants Greenland,” Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said in an interview with broadcaster TV2.   “But I will also make it clear that if the U.S. chooses to attack another NATO country militarily, then everything stops, including NATO and thus the security that has been established since the…

Donald Trump imposed 10 per cent ‘reciprocal’ tariffs on the UK last night – but hit the rest of the world even harder as he vowed to stop the US being ‘pillaged’, ‘raped’ and ‘brutalised’. The president also confirmed there will be a 25 per cent tariff on all foreign-made cars, in another blow for Britain that experts have warned could cost 25,000 jobs. But Downing Street was breathing a sigh of relief as other countries facing even harsher punishment, with 10 per cent the ‘baseline’ level. Now, all eyes will be…

Trump demands Colorado take down ‘purposefully distorted’ painting

President Trump is demanding Colorado take down its “purposefully distorted” painting of him hanging in the State Capitol. “Nobody likes a bad picture or painting of themselves, but the one in Colorado, in the State Capitol put up by the Governor, along with all other Presidents, was purposefully distorted to a level that even I, perhaps, have never seen before,” Trump wrote in a post Sunday on Truth Social. “The artist also did President Obama, and he looks wonderful, but the one [of] me is truly the worst.
